After finishing WRIT 2201, there were many things that I have learned about research and writing. There were a lot of concepts that I have taken away that I feel are very important such as how to research more effectively or how to write things in a more simple and concise ways. Those two concepts in particular to me are the highlights of what I learned in this course.
Before taking this course, my research skills were not very good as I would be looking up things online often not using keywords. Throughout the course, I have improved on this skill and have started to research more effectively by using keywords along with the advance search function in search engines. This skill has started to apply more in my daily life as I am using more keywords when searching online.
This course has also helped me improve my writing significantly. Before this course, I would always write out my answers with a lot of fluff and in full paragraphs. This course has helped me realize that not everything needed to be a paragraph, instead writing a few straightforward sentences can be better in cases. This has made me more aware whenever I write as every time I do so now, I would always try to think of how I can write it shorter and more effectively. This skill has been integrated into my life after taking this course as I find it to be a very useful skill.
While these two areas of my life have been strengthened, I still believe there is more to improve in both my research and writing. As I experience more projects that require research and writing, my skills will improve overtime with that experience. I have made many mistakes in this course with my work and I have to make sure I do not repeat any of them in my future projects. With all the feedback I have received from my peers and combined with what I have learned in the course, I need to apply it all to my future projects.
